The voice behind this amazing song is Zooey Deschanel, who you may remember was the actress that played Summer Finn in the movie 500 Days Of Summer. In her biography it says that she is an actress/model/singer/songwriter which pretty much means she can do just about anything --including fixing the gulf coast oil spill. But really, she has this amazing voice. According to the wiki, this song was believed to have originated as far back as 1700's by British seamen serving on voyages across the Atlantic. These voyages are long and grueling and I could only imagine what comfort this song brought them. Hey, at least you learned something new today.
